We checked out of The Equus before noon and Lyft-ed our way to Pier 2 of Honolulu Harbour, where Norwegian’s Pride of America was docked.
While at sea, an altered itinerary
Around 9 a.m. the next day, as Maui our first port was within sight, the captain gave an announcement throughout the ship that our two-day stop in Maui was cancelled. The storm around us produced rough seas and made entering the Maui harbor too difficult. He wasn’t sure what he would do next, and took a wait-and-see approach.

Immediately, I prayed with my Sweetie for God’s intervention, plus texted my church group about this situation.
Within three hours, the weather cleared around the ship, and a new schedule was set.

This was the new itinerary.

Look at the really weird course we were on through the islands! The captain explained we might see whales, and the loop we made just west of the city of Lahaina, Maui is known as a whale migration route. He said we would also see the cliffs of Molokai before the ship looped eastward towards Hilo on the Big Island.
Apparently, the whales didn’t know we wanted to see them, so they were a no-show. Ditto for the cliffs of Molokai — they were hidden by rain clouds.
Exploring the ship
This is the ship’s Atrium area, on deck five, which includes the guest services desk, shore excursions desk, and a restaurant with a Norwegian take/interpretation of Asian food.

We enjoyed dinner in the Skyline Dining Room, but as I looked out the window, I beheld a strange sight.

UFOs! Here’s photographic proof we’re being invaded by beings from another world — a full-scale alien invasion has taken place in Hawaii! (Actually, those lights in the sky are reflections of the ship’s dining room lights. Note the dining table in the water!)
Next: Hilo — the Hawaiian Tropical Botanical Garden, geckos, Café 100, green sand, and Big Island Beef Jerky
